Rob Stansbury Chairman of the Trustees

Rob lives near Farnham and has a background in the financial services industry. A chartered director, Rob has had both executive and non-executive roles across a number of companies of varying sizes. He has advised boards of many financial businesses on the strategic management of risk. He has been the chairman of hoppa since May 2016 and brings experience of working in many different countries and cultures.

Richard Knight trustee responsible for Finance

Richard Knight joined hoppa as a trustee in 2010, fulfilling the role of finance director. He is a qualified management accountant (ACMA) with over 30 years’ experience as finance director of retail companies such as Principles, Laura Ashley and Whittards to name a few. He is now semi-retired, although still employed part-time as finance director of the Blackmoor Estate near Selborne, Hampshire and voluntary treasurer for the south west Surrey area of the Cruse Bereavement charity. He lives in Hindhead and plays golf as often as he can at Hindhead or elsewhere. He has been playing the drums since age 15 and still plays regularly around the south of England. He is married to the ever-patient Carol, a fellow dog-lover. They currently have two Sussex Spaniels.

Andrew Boughton trustee responsible for Health and Safety

Married with three grown-up children, Andy has lived in the Farnham/Haslemere area for over 40 years. Now living in Hindhead he enjoys his recently increased leisure time with double daily dog walking in the surrounding National Trust woods and commons. Andy’s career in education has been long and varied, including four years spent advising the prison service on education and training for offenders. Formerly, one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors with Ofsted, Andy spent 20 years inspecting adult education and vocational training nationwide. A lifetime has been spent participating in, and watching sport, especially football; a committed AFC Bournemouth supporter since the age of ten. As well as being a keen skier, classic car enthusiast, musical theatre buff and reluctant gardener, Andy has been on hoppa’s Board of Trustees for four years.

Jenny Brydon trustee responsible for Operations

Jenny Brydon joined as a trustee in 2013 and although originally from Scotland has lived in Godalming for 14 years. She has over 20 years’ experience in the travel industry having worked as commercial director for Saga holidays, the AA, which included heading up the Saga Charitable Trust, and also at Holiday Autos and lastminute.com. She is currently working as commercial director at Travelsupermarket, part of the Moneysupermarket group.Having grown up in the rural Scottish Borders, and being close to her wheelchair-bound aunt in Perth, Jenny was keen to be part of hoppa as she is well aware of the key role that community transport plays. A keen skier, climber and cyclist; when not in Surrey, Jenny is often to be found in the mountains enjoying the outdoors.

Suzy Naughalty trustee responsible for Fundraising

Suzy joined hoppa in 2016. Before becoming a mum, Suzy held a succession of international project and finance management positions, most recently with Sun Microsystems (1988-2001). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from Purdue University (Indiana, USA). While raising her family, Suzy has remained active as a volunteer at schools, church, children’s sports clubs and other local concerns. Suzy lives in Churt with her husband Martin and two teenage daughters. She is well aware of the transport challenges that face people living in rural communities.

Martin Fox trustee responsible for Marketing

Martin Fox has been a trustee of hoppa since 2013 and has responsibility for marketing the company. After qualifying as an electrical engineer, he was director of a company supplying steel products to the oil and petrochemical industries for 25 years. Now retired, he spends much of his time (whenever he can escape from gardening and DIY) playing sport – golf, real tennis, walking and cycling and watching sport – rugby and cricket. He is learning to play the piano, which he says is not the easiest thing he has ever attempted. Having spoken German for much of his working life, Martin is now improving his French. Martin enjoys listening to good music. Originally from the West Riding of Yorkshire, he has lived in the area for 30 years. He is married to Pamela and they both enjoy travelling, especially if the sun shines.

Brian Capper trustee responsible for Legal Matters

Brian has an MA degree in Law from Cambridge University and is a retired solicitor who was involved, principally, in property, banking, commercial and charity law. Before becoming a lawyer he worked in international development in Africa, Asia and Central America as an agricultural research and development worker for the United Nations, the World Bank, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the European Development Fund. He has BSc and PhD degrees in agricultural science from Reading University. He is Chairman of Action on Poverty a charity whose mission is to develop sustainable livelihoods for disadvantaged and marginalised people, including the disabled, in Sub-Saharan Africa. Brian is originally from West London but has lived in Farnham for 21 years. He is married with two children. He has served on the Parochial Church Council of St James’ Church Rowledge for many years. His leisure activities include hill walking, sailing, history and travel.
